Our Prescription Policy

 

Prescription Requirements

 

CPAP, Auto CPAP (APAP), and BiPAP machines along with complete mask systems are classified as Class II Medical Devices by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and require you or your doctor to provide us with a prescription to purchase.

 

Prescription Required Items:

 

  • CPAP, Auto CPAP (APAP), and BiPAP machines
  • Complete mask systems ( you can purchase parts without an RX)
  • Oxygen devices

 

No Prescription Required Items:

 

  • CPAP supplies and parts such as filters, tubing, water chambers, mask parts, cushions, and pillows
  • CPAP masks can be purchased without an Rx by purchasing non-prescription items: mask frames, cushions and headgear strap. These components will be packaged separately within the same bag, allowing you to receive a complete mask system.

 

How to Obtain a Prescription

 

You can check the medications tab in your electronic health record account for your prescription. Alternatively, you can request one from your primary care physician. The quickest way to obtain your prescription is by:

 

  • Sending a message through your electronic health record account
  • Calling your doctor’s office

 

Prescriptions may be written for “Lifetime Need” or “99 Months”, allowing continued use of the prescribed equipment for therapy. Your doctor is aware that you use CPAP and will likely provide a prescription for your machine and supplies.

 

Prescription Requirements

 

A valid prescription must include:

 

  • Your name
  • The physician’s name
  • Physician's contact information
  • Physician's signature
  • A statement specifying the required equipment
  • For CPAP or BiPAP machines, the prescription must also include pressure settings

 

We will use the settings listed on your prescription to program your machine so it is ready for use.
